The LANTRA Traffic Management Sector Scheme 12D Document details the Quality Assurance requirements and occupational competencies for temporary traffic managment on rural and urban roads. The qualifications cover all types of Temporary Traffic Management on Rural and Urban Roads (ie all Single Carriageway Roads and Dual Carriageway Roads restricted for 40mph or less). Companies implementing TTM measures on Highways Agency roads will need to be accredited to the Sector Scheme specification as a condition of contract. Other Highways Authorities are also specifying the training and assessment detailed in the Sector Scheme as a requirement for any company installing TTM measures.
MWO (Moving Works Operative) – For Operatives carrying out moving works (works of 10 minutes duration or less) on single carriageways not requiring positive traffic control. This qualification is gained by attending a ½ Day training course (T1). On successful completion of the course a TM Registration Card will be issued with the designation MWO.
RTMO (Registered TM Operative) – For Operatives required to work on single carriageway roads will require a one day training course (T1 & T2) followed by a series of assessments (1 yard based and 2 on live sites) recorded in a Logbook. Once the training course and assessments are successfully completed a TM Registration Card will be issued with the designation RTMO.
T3 – Low speed dual carriageway operations.
This 1-day course covers lane closures on dual carriageways restricted to 40mph or less using static traffic management.
Learners must have attended 12D T1, passed M1, and attended and passed T2 before attending the T3 training day. Before undertaking the M3 assessments learners must have successfully completed their M2 assessments.
3 on-site live assessments
T4 – Convoy working operations.
This 1-day course covers the requirements for convoy working on rural and urban roads.
Learners must have attended 12D T1, passed M1, and attended and passed T2 before attending the T4 training day. Before undertaking the M4 assessments learners must have successfully completed their M2 assessments.

T5 – Multi phase traffic light operations.
This 1-day course covers the requirements for installation, maintenance and removal of multi-phase traffic signals.
Learners must have attended 12D T1, passed M1, and attended and passed T2 before attending the T5 training day. Before undertaking the M5 assessments learners must have successfully completed their M2 assessments.

T6 – RLTMO (Registered Lead Traffic Management Operative) – 2 day course for those holding RTMO status who wish to become RLTMO. Aims to provide delegates with the necessary underpinning technical knowledge and skill to supervise a gang or gangs of operatives.
T7 – Managers and Client Officers – 12D T7 is targeted at all levels of Management, Client Officers, Technicians and any person not actually installing Temporary Traffic Management, but who have responsibility for planning or monitoring works.

This classroom based training course is aimed at event organisers and individuals that have responsibility for Traffic Management of organised events, working in conjunction with local Highway Authority, the Police and other appropriate authorities. This course is intended for event stewards whose duties may involve guiding vehicles, maintaining emergency routes etc.
At the end of the course learners will be aware of current legislation and its requirements

Be able to devise a Traffic Management Plan
Be able to identify typical hazards and appropriate control measures
Have a basic understanding of basic traffic management requirements affecting highway users and event staff
One-day Classroom training. 12AB training for static temporary traffic management on motorways and high speed dual carriageways. This course is intended for persons starting work for the first time in the TM industry and do not hold any 12ABC registration cards.
One-day operative sector scheme training and assessment course has been specifically designed for you if you work on high speed dual carriageways or motorway.
Once you have completed the 12A/B training course you can obtain full operative status Lantra-Card by completing an approved process of on and off site assessment as detailed within the sector scheme document. The assessments must be completed within a two-year period starting from the date of passing the training.
The certificate will be issued for the initial training and this is valid for 2 years.
Two day NHSS in traffic management – foreman course, has been specifically designed for working on High-Speed motorways and dual carriageways as traffic management foreman.
You can complete the course to renew your TSCO card.
One day TSCO Sector Scheme training course has been specifically designed for you if you work on high speed dual carriageways or motorways as a TSCO.
In order that you can be registered by LANTRA AWARDS as a TSCO, you must prove that you hold as a minimum a 1day safety awareness training course
